pengl package I may be missing?.
Might it be some missing dependency ? Just guessing...
I simply ran dpkg -i amaya_9.2.1-6_i386.deb

FWIW:
I grabbed an earlier version,
amaya_9.2.1-6_i386.deb from a friend's computer /var/cache/apt/archives
(I didn't find it online) and it works on the same system where 9.4-1 doesn't.
