I dont think the problem you are observing is related to module-init-tools. I am using the same version and do not see these errors. IMHO, there is something wrong with the kernel image you are using. The best way to solve symbol problems like that is to use the kernel-package tool and build your own kernel-image from source.
Another suggestion would be to blacklist the alsa modules (using /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist) that you are trying to load before you attempt to manuall insert them.
