First of all, apologies to 339385's submitter and maintainer.

For the ifupdown/nowebm people:

It appears that nowebm is the culprit here.  I have successfully
reproduced this on i386, hence the severity.

nowebm uses nawk to parse data (specifically /usr/bin/noroots).  The
problem is that nawk does not exist in original-awk, although awk does.
Therefore, either nowebm must Conflict: original-awk or use awk and only
those features that are available in an "old" awk.  It would be
inappropriate to Depend: mawk | gawk, as there would still be a problem
if one of those packages were installed along with original-awk, but
original-awk were chosen using alternatives.
