Compiling against libt1-dev fails if libxpm-dev is not installed. Either it should be declared as a dependency of libt1-dev, or the reference to -lXpm in /usr/lib/libt1x.la file should be removed. Severity serious since this bug induces FTBFSs in other packages, which used to build just fine. As an example see the gtkmathview (source) package and #441198 (note that the bug per se is not due to libt1-dev, but in the bug log an example of the FTBFS induced by libt1-dev is reported).
