Package: monkeysphere
Version: 0.23.1-1
Severity: grave

Monkeysphere 0.23 introduced a significant change to the way that system
data is stored in /var. However, the transition script (which is
triggered on postinst) is known to fail for certain classes of host.

In particular, it seems to fail for:

 * hosts with expired OpenPGP host-keys

 * hosts with non-expired OpenPGP host-keys, but whose *original* host
key certifications have expired.

 * hosts which have never updated any user authorized_keys files during
the monkeysphere.

These circumstances are fairly common, and the transition script failure
in postinst causes postinst itself to fail, leaving the package in an
unconfigured state.

Since the 0.23.1 release, upstream has made significant fixes to the
transition script to make it handle all of the above circumstances. The
fixed transition script should be available in the next revision, so
0.23.1-1 should probably not transition into squeeze.

Thanks,
