Attached is a backtrace with a version of exiftran built while keeping the symbols. I did notice this during the build: /usr/bin/ld: warning: libjpeg.so.62, needed by /usr/lib/libtiff.so, may conflict with libjpeg.so.8 but don't known whether it is relevant as the stacktrace doesn't include libjpeg code directly. I haven't been able to get another combination of libjpeg*-dev and libtiff*-dev installed together to test whether it may be relevant.
