I am lowering the severity to important since I cannot reproduce the
segfault and Eclipse is also not unusable for me.

thanks for your bug report. I can't reproduce a segfault on amd64 with
the same version of eclipse and everything works as intended.
Can you verify that the same happens with a clean install of eclipse on
your system? That means what happens if you backup you
