Considering that upgrades skipping a stable release aren't formally supported and generally don't work, it does not affect >=jessie anymore, even though both wheezy and jessie share the same version of lirc. With squeeze being EOL for over half a year by now (disregarding the more server centric, rather inofficial LTS efforts) and lirc being a predominantly desktop/ multimedia centric package, with no actual user report about this particular issue so far, I'd tend not to touch this problem for wheezy anymore - and jessie isn't affected either way. > 2m28.1s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks: > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x/NEWS.Debian.gz (lirc-x) != > /usr/share/doc/lirc/NEWS.Debian.gz (lirc) > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x -> lirc > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x/changelog.Debian.gz (lirc-x) != > /usr/share/doc/lirc/changelog.Debian.gz (lirc) > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x -> lirc > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x/copyright (lirc-x) != /usr/share/doc/lirc/copyright > (lirc) > /usr/share/doc/lirc-x -> lirc While the bug itself is definately serious/ RC for wheezy, I'd tend to consider this problem wontfix for wheezy at this stage[1] and not-a-bug for jessie - can you agree with this evaluation? Regards Stefan Lippers-Hollmann [1] it does affect dist-upgrades from squeeze to wheezy it does not affect fresh installations of wheezy it does not affect dist-upgrades from wheezy to jessie it does not affect fresh installations of jessie it won't affect dist-upgrading from jessie upwards to stretch+ as such, I don't think a bugfix for this would meet the unblock criteria for jessie at this point of the freeze, but with wheezy and jessie sharing the same version of lirc, any change for wheezy would also require an update for jessie. -------------------------------------------------------
