The highlighted problems with running more than one instance of CherryTree are important, but I do not think they are serious enough to keep CherryTree from appearing in the next Debian release. Moreover, CherryTree has since been rewritten in C++ and the issue may have been solved on the way. To repeat Paul, it would be great if you could check if the issue is still there. In any way I believe this issue is not Debian-specific. Thus if it persists, it should be reported and solved upstream, either by locking CherryTree file by one of the instances, or by forbidding running more than one instance of CherryTree.
