Hello, The package currently FTBFS in debian due to this.
FTR, Andreas packaged the (then) new 1.4.0 upstream release that fixes this problem: https://salsa.debian.org/ah/pam/-/commits/master-1.4.0
IMVHO, we should really update to at least that version (and maybe to 1.5.1 that it's now out as well).
