Package: virt-p2v Version: 1.42-2 Severity: serious User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts
Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from 'stable'. It installed fine in 'stable', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a Breaks+Replaces relation. See policy 7.6 at https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#overwriting-files-and-replacing-packages-replaces This test intentionally skipped 'testing' to find file overwrite problems before packages migrate from 'unstable' to 'testing'. >From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): Preparing to unpack .../virt-p2v_1.42-2_amd64.deb ... Unpacking virt-p2v (1.42-2) ... dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/virt-p2v_1.42-2_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/virt-p2v-make-disk', which is also in package libguestfs-tools 1:1.40.2-2 dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/virt-p2v_1.42-2_amd64.deb Instead of Conflicts, Breaks+Replaces: libguestfs-tools (<< 1:1.42) should be sufficient (and will make it easier for apt). cheers, Andreas
