This list should not be used to commercial e-mail. As far as I am concerned this list is kept clean and the only purpose is to inform people about debian changes. I have asked for this to happen over two years ago, in the bug report #40760, but unfortunately the solution still isn't implemented. It sounds easy enough -- make dinstall authenticate to smartlist with a special header, and reject everything else, because everything else doesn't belong to the list.
