uscan does support git clone. But it won't ignore the .gitattributes file.
I opened https://bugs.debian.org/947317
I went for an ugly README.source using "git deborig" for now.

Upstream of phppgadmin has nice unit tests in its github.com repository, but
they use a .gitattributes file [1] to strip these tests files from the
distributed tar files: All the unit tests are missing from the orig.tar.
I wonder how to proceed:

The cdrom doesnot work too. One of them randomly works.
This happend with two computers with about same debain version, but

varargs isn't weird on powerpc, it just happens that incorrect usage of it
works on i386 (like too much else, e.g. its wrong endianness hides type size
mismatches, ...) but not for us.

wrong tree in the wrong forest here - but bringing up an old issue here
of release frequency, once the transition to using package pools and the
new debian-installer is done, would it be reasonable to expect Debian
releas

various kernel images for example, only those would not work on a lower
CPU.
I have not actually tried running RH 7 on an i486 but I'm sure it would work.
So the question is, why not adopt this for Debian too?
