Now you are at it, I suggest that you also scan the archive for packages
that fails to include a "Section" and/or "Priority" field. It is far
too many, and it is quite annoying.

I think their main objective is that they want to include source code
for everything in the distribution

option for cleaning .elc's if an emacsen is uninstalled?)

st-inst scripts are
usefull for many purposes, but using them to execute a GNU emacs
and/or an XEmacs compilation on every package containing a single
elisp file is overkill.

The most important thing is that the shared directory issue is solved,
and this is best done by not compiling elisp files from packages
otherwise unrelated to emacsen.

re. The same problem applies to the site-lisp dirs in
/usr/lib. Maybe the Debian Policy should be extended to cover the
usage of these dirs.

more partitions for Linux. Perhaps an tool like Partition Magic
could "shrink" your FAT partion, and you could thus get this setup
without touching NT.

Very bad idea. Some of us are behind a firewall that makes it
difficult to use standard ftp tools. Invoking ftp from an
installer script would only cause trouble. It should instead be done
like the nescape installer package where the software is downloaded
manually to

is not a debian format archive
I have tried downloading them from a different mirror with the same
result. Are these packages really bogus, or am I just cursed? I don't
