More seriously, I'd be very wary of trying to make dpkg too : smart. Especially since dselect already deals with these problems pretty : well. ... you're right, as I thought quite a bit longer about that proposal, dselect handles it fairly well and dpkg is already complex enought. Heiko public pgp
