I've updated the stage-build patch for current dpkg 1.16.4.3 and included Patrick's dpkg-gencontrol patch: http://odin1.pehjota.net/~pj/debian-bootstrap/dpkg/dpkg-gencontrol.patch However on testing, whilst this does the desired job of adding Build-Stage: N if the package was built with DEB_BUILD
