It would be nicer if the debian-changes or debian-changes-version
files that are created by dpkg-source automatically had a .patch (or
.diff?) extension, so that editors and other tools knew how to deal
with them automatically. It's generally

The format security flags offered by dpkg-buildflags are
CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS=-Wformat -Wformat-security -Werror=format-security
But -Werror=format-security already implies -Wformat-security, so
using both adds nothing but bloats up the
-1.16.1.2+nmu1/debian/changelog

There are some sporadic bug reports around like #315935 that basically say
that the package cannot be cross-compiled. I think it would be useful to have
a control field that told dpkg-buildpackage that cross-compiling won't work
