Hi,
I have a need to run software that requires Squeeze etc... so I'd like to set
up a 'fat' squeeze workstation on an existing skolelinux system alongside the
thinclients and diskless workstations. The goal is for students to be able to
log in to the new workstation or existing thinclients
against current Lenny
based server and mounts the home directory using nfs like the current
workstations?
Thanks,
David Goldstrom

I have to admit having worked with debian-edu on a test system for about 2
months, I really love it!
As I begin to expand the test system into what will finally be duplicated into
a small high school I would appreciate suggestions / advice on a few things:
Currently network setup is simply

Hi all,
I have authentication (exactly as in the debian edu wiki) working well, but
to run updates I have to stop squid and restart with the old configuration
file, then restart with the current squid.conf. I've tried several different
ways to get apt-get to go through squid, including

Does anyone have a recomendation for a bittorent setup on Tjener? I've
installed ktorrent and torrentflux from lenny-stable and ktorrent works quite
well. I did have to make some minor changes to squid.conf, but I'm very pleased
that it handles the authentication scheme (squid/ldap).

I've tried putting a file in root/desktop/kde/startup called mount with
mount --bind /medialv /skole/ltsp/i386/testuser/desktop/Media
to bind /medialv with a folder I created on their root.
Basically, if I manually run the script it works, but it doesn't happen when
they log in? I think it has

Both problems solved (and I'll try to add to the Wiki!)
1. Changing the machine name to static00 got it to boot as a diskless
workstation. It also boots as a thin client on the same address (10.0.2.50).
2. Getting the ethernet to work required setting the recursion=(put OpenDNS

Hi David,
I'll hazard a few suggestions in the absence of a more
qualified reply.

I am also interested in setting specific internet access policies for each

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
