Confirmed with r132071. I'm trying to reduce the testcase.

Bug#386443: gcj-4.1: UTF-16 endianness differs between gcj and Sun JDK
Bug marked as found in version 4:4.2.1-6.

Package: gcc-4.1
Version: 4.1.1-21
Severity: minor
I have an old (1999) program, i recompiled it for 64 bit, but gave strange
errors messages. i traced to the fact that the gcc i have now do not set the
HAS_STRERROR variable so the compiler included a not_so_up_to_date file.
