One of our users was having trouble compiling foss and getting the error:
cc1: out of memory allocating 37224 bytes after a total of 13787136 bytes
[clearly rubbish]
I've found that the program compiles flawlessly if I modify the
Makefile and change gcc to gcc-3.3. Our gcc is 4.1.2,

Please bring back the non-free documentation. If it really has to be
