Dear Maintainer,
Yesterday I upgraded Debian unstable gcc metapackage on my t460s so it
defaults to gcc-8 now (8.1+git) and compiled a new kernel wioth it. Now
my laptop bootup panics with vgacon but boots OK with vesafb. Same
kernel revision
While preparing the preprocessed source I found the bug to be a
duplicate of gcc PR23454
(http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=23454). Gcc bugzilla tells
it will be fixed in 4.0.2 but it seems it isn't.

While trying to compile pristine mysql 5.0.16 on Debian/sparc (sparc64
host), gcc gets an ICE while trying to use -O3 optimization. This is the
pristine mysql 5.0.16 distribution, not Debian one, and it selects -O3
by itself.

I checked out todays kernel (fresh 2.6.9 + todays BK updates to it) and
tried to compile it on 2 different computers (both x86, running
unstable). gcc segfaults trying to compile the vsyscall object file, on
both computers:
