Package: cpp
Version: 4:4.3.1-2

Lines 17-18 state that "GCC-4.2 is the default compiler for C, C++, Objective-C and Objective-C++ on the architectures alpha, amd64, hppa and i386", but lines 39-43 state in a table that the versions of cpp, gcc, and g++ on i386 are cpp-4.3, gcc-4.3, and g++-4.3 respectively.

In compiling this report, I've become confused about which version of the cpp package I have installed:

debian:~# dpkg --status cpp
Package: cpp
Status: install ok installed
...
Architecture: i386
Source: gcc-defaults (1.75)
Version: 4:4.3.1-2
...

debian:~# cpp --version
cpp (Debian 4.3.1-9) 4.3.1
