Sorry, for the error message, but my dselect showed me the wrong version
number of the libc6 package after I messed around with the apt
configuration. Since it was very very late I didn't see that. After a
new installation of the dist. it showed the right version 2.2.5 of libc6
again.

Putting together my Changelog has made me realize that I probably
have to check spinlock.c again...

apt-build does not compile libc6 on my testing, because it can't get
dpkg 1.10.8 . But when I change the Build-Depends line manually, it
doesn't cause any packaging problems. So, I guess there could just be
dpkg 1.10.4 in the Build-Dependency se

Make chroot, populate, setup.
Put my patches into ./debian/patches, frob 0list.
dpkg-buildpackage -b -rfakeroot
...
checking for gcc-3.2 option to accept ANSI C... none needed
checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C prepro
