Logging in as root directly also fails, it asks for name/password then

This bug will be cross-posted as a samba bug, since it only appears to occur when samba is running.
The new version of libc6 causes samba-3.0.0beta2-1 to crash.
The fix is either to downgrade libc6 or do not run samba
