The non-debug libc6 binaries do strange things to the stack. I haven't
figured out the specifics to this bug, but I have found two ways to
reliably reproduce the problem.
Method 1:

I ended up with a similar problem due to this bug. I orignially tried
to report the bug using GNU's bug tracker, but since it's been defunct

I've been using the no_NO (Norwegian) locale for a long time.
I want to switch to using utf-8, so I tried using the no_NO.UTF-8 locale.

of it now. If we don't force LIBGD to no in configparms, we get the
memusage script and memusagestat binary, which are quite handy. I imagine
we'd need to create a new package for them, since having libc6-dev (is that
