A good practice is to use settrans -ap so that you actually attempt the
translator command line right then. This checks your option

The best solution, of course, is fixing ext2fs sothe filesystem
will not be corrupted. If someone can easily reproduce this,
please tell me so I can fix this.
Crash the file-system during writes.
Ok, that was the reason:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ showtrans -t /hurd/*
/hurd/ext2fs: /dev/hd1s1
/hurd/ext2fs.static: /dev/hd1s1
Sorry for that, seems that i've missaranged settrans arguments some hours
ago? Very stupid. As you can see i'm new to translators...
"make install" now installs - so next t

Yes, this is most likely a corrupt
/hurd looks fine:

So i will reinstall the system and start from a fresh (never crashed :-)
filesystem.
Cute, you could check if any translators got attached to /hurd/ext2fs
and/or /hurd/ext2fs.static by accident. But oh well...
/hurd looks fine:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -ld /hurd
drwxr-xr-x2 root root 4096 Mar 24 02:34 /hurd
ext2fs and ext2fs.static are the only both files that could not be accessed:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls -l /hurd/e*
ls: /hurd/ext2fs: Permission denied
ls: /hurd/ext2fs.static: Permissi
Ah sorry, even "ls" told me "Permission denied" on ext2fs and
ext2fs.static. I have thought that running ext2fs as an active
translater may be the problem but now i think it's only a
filesystem inconsistency in my installation?
Check the permissions on /hurd.
Ah sorry, even "ls" told me "Permission denied" on ext2fs and ext2fs.static.
I have thought that running ext2fs as an active translater may be the
problem but now i think it's only a filesystem inconsistency in my
installation?
Thank you,

I am reluctant to produce a set of K6 images until XFree is working
well enough to include in the set.
However, I could produce a mini-iso (and the associated tarball) if this
is what people want. The next full set would be K7.

But "make install" in the hurd directory failed with:
"/usr/bin/install: cannot stat '/hurd/ext2fs': Permission denied"
What are the persmissions of /hurd/ext2fs?

Hi!
I've installed the K5 images and successfully compiled the gnumach-1.3 and
hurd sources. "make install" in gnumach-1.3 installed the new kernel and
after enabling ide it now works :-) But "make install" in the hurd directory
failed with: "/usr/bin/install: cannot stat '/hurd/ext2fs': Permission
