Agreed. But what if somebody gets a virus (ahem, Outlook users) and it spams
everybody in their address book? Isn't it possible some legitimate users
could end up on the shared spam list by accident?
Just a thought. But you're right - I'm tired of having my heart melted with

I just recently got my Hurd setup semi-working (I can log in, in other words).
I believe I need to recompile GnuMach for network card support and IDE disk
controller support. My network card is tulip-based, and the disk controller
is CMD649 (close and possibly ??? compatible relative of the
Is it possible that this could become a part of a more all-encompassing
Virtual FileSystem implementation like that seen in KDE? (KIOSlaves, etc.)
Allowing any application to view data using any protocol is very powerful
idea, used well in KDE and I believe becoming implemented in GNOME.
Excellent! I'm glad to hear it, sine that's how it should be! :-)
Thanks Marcus,

I cross-compiled Mach and booted it (I think I installed the new kernel
right, anyway) and upon doing so the system told me that my primary hard
disk partition doesn't have a file in /dev. Could this be because Mach
doesn't support my CMD649 ATA-100 controller? Thank you

version of Mach using Debian Linux Unstable. I got the CVS code onto my
machine, and here's what the configure script telle me:
checking host sytem type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
configure: error: sorry.
Hello,
I'm in the midst of trying to install the Hurd to an Ext2 partition, and I
was wondering if the 1 GB limit to partition still applies. The installation
manual I read states that the system can't handle more than a gigabyte on
the Ext2 partition.
Thanks!
- Josh
Thanks for the info. What's the prospective on overcoming this limitation?
