Still thinking of a comment I read on Slashdot awhile ago on how HURD works
well on embedded processors. Anyone know of a port to RPi in existence yet?

on x86-64 architectures. Also note that AMD64

Yep. Bug specific to the Hurd should be sent to bug-hurd, and Debian
issues to debian-hurd.
