I don't suppose rsync'ing the images is an option open to us
Just to inform that the very kind maintainer of this site
Attila Nagy <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (see ftp banner) has solved the problem.
He recommended me rsync to quickly update iso file which "was a bit
corrupt".

Hmm.. This still seems sub-optimal.
Here's a thought:
Are you willing to create the ISOs on another machine and then
download it for burning? This gives a few advantages:
1) You don't have to pull down all of these packages over a dial up.
2) The CD will already exist on another server.
I don
This is under continious investigation. At this stage it seems that we
will have 3-4 binary CDs.

I can take care of this. I am in San Francisco and can put myself next to
substantial bandwidth easily enough.
Jeff,
The problem I have is that I only have a standard modem connection
for uploads. So I post the CDs to Attila.
However, I someone on the US Pacific coast could upload images from CDs to
ftp.gnu.org this would save quite a few days.

Philip,
Should I arrange for you to have an account directly on ftp.gnu.org
for posting these? I can't remember what difficulties you faced in
posting these last time.
Tks,

I got the new F3 images from ftp.fsn.hu. The sizes were ok,
also the md5sum for hurd-extra.iso, but the md5sum for hurd-main.iso
was different to the one given in file md5sums.
md5sums also refers to hurd-F3-Main.iso instead of hurd-F3-main.iso.
Can anybody explain this?
Kind regards,
