Your user bind would write a file in /var/run, but it's not allowed.
I ran BIND this way, I seem to recall chown'ing that pid file once
and never having a problem with it again for the lifetime of the box.

As this problem seems kind of unresolved it's
hard to fix it by bumping up buffers or so.

have done so for quite a while.
I figured out that, at least in my case, this works ...
I comment out the php4 module and 'apachectl start',
then uncomment it and 'apachectl restart' ...

Probably a DNS problem.

I have a Qmail vpopmail system running on Debian/unstable with no problems.
I have both real and virtual users on the system.
For a couple of days I have tried to teach my Courier-IMAP to authenticate viritual
accounts with no luck.
It seems to me that the Coruier-IMAP .deb is
, turn off auth-daemon (as mentioned on the vpopmail mailing
list). I don't use local users so I haven't had to worry about that and
only list authvchkpw as the only auth module used.
