I'm after some suggestions as to the easiest way to run Snort (and keep
it reasonable up to date), preferably without having to maintain it
manually or upgrading from stable as this is a firewall and the security
updates are important.
Snort in stable is still at 1.84 and so can

I'm after some suggestions as to the easiest way to run Snort (and keep
it reasonable up to date), preferably without having to maintain it
manually or upgrading from stable as this is a firewall and the security

mysql, acid, snort and netfilter ).

Is it a perferrable to have snort and acidlab running on a firewall
machine masquerding a network and logging to an internal server running
apache-ssl and mysql ? I would like to setup some sort of IDS but also
have more info on traffic in the internal network ?

to?
Or did i overlook s.th.?
I want to install snort an my firewall, but didn't want the logging to be
done on that box but on an box with postgres installed (7.1 on potato).
And i don't want both

Does anyone know how to turn off the spp_http_decode module without
recompiling snort? It seems to be flagging every outbound web connection
on certain hosts as a Unicode attack...
