For everyone's info who's encountered this problem: This only occurred for me when j2sdk1.3 was installed. Installing only j2re1.3 seemed to work fine. I installed libstdc++-2.10 (ver. 2.95.2-14) from oldlibs, and that seemed to fix things when j2sdk1.3 was installed. I don't know who maintai
