Where can I get .deb files for JAVA 1.4?
J. R. Westmoreland
Could some one please send me the location to obtain the java 1.4.0 packages
and the packages for the parts that are needed to make things work as one would
expect for a development environment?
I thought I had filed away the pointer sent me earlier but can't find it :-(,

Two quick observations... Please correct me if I'm wrong...
If memory serves, the JSSE problem will solve itself at the release of JDK-1.4.
I recall reading that this package should be included as part of this java release.
Second, is the LDAP you are referring to the same as the libldap-java
Do I understand this correctly?
The installer behavior would be like the package that does the java docs?
If this is correct that might be a good solution.

I'm wondering about a few things concerning the libldap-java package.
I noticed that the install puts the .jar files in /usr/share/java.
Many .jar files that are extensions to java go in the .../jre/lib/ext directory.
A couple of examples would be jsse and mm.mysql.
Should not this package be

I'm running unstable!
What would have changed in the release that is SO critical that apt would want
to uninstall
the package and everything associated with java from my system?
Is there a easy way to determine the answer to this question for future
