in contrib today can be moved to main, and we can get rid of the
various JDEs and concentrate on one instead of spreading our resources
so thinly.

(I am the maintainer of both JDE and bsh, so I should know.. :)
I could probably get jde to build without bsh, so if there is any
interest in it..

already has perl-base at priority required, essential yes and
section base, so for us it won't make much of a difference. Though I
too detest the idea of having to use a perl wrapper. Let's start a
program which takes a while to start anyway through another
not-too-fast language..
