I have the same combination of Debian Potato and KDE 2.1.2, and it works for
me. There is a noticeable delay after the pop-up comes and goes that I had
attributed to my 233 MHZ processor. I use a high speed (always on) ISP. If
you have to wait for a modem connection and download, the delay would

I'm somewhat confused by all the places where shared libs (can) go. The
KDE debs put some (all? or only "modules"?) shared libs in
/usr/lib/kde2. KDE tarballs and projects created with KDevelop to put
them in /usr/local/lib/kde2.
My /etc/ld.so.conf contains neither /usr/lib/kde2 nor
