pop3 service won't start

I think something bad happened when I forced the installation of kiofoto3 as now my machine cannot start any ioslave processes. Nothing appears on the desktop and no communication pipes can open (i.e. no network traffic). I've tried re-install KDE but that doesn't appear to work. I'm running

Hello! I just installed KDE 3.1 for Woody from kde.org. I'm impressed by your excellent work! Thanks! What I'm missing is a KDE meta package that automagically drags in all the nice stuff. In the official archives there is "kde", "kde-extras" and so forth. Of course, it doesn't work for KDE 3.1

hello to everyone, i have just updatet from kde 3.1.0rc6 to kde 3.1.0 (karolinas packages) and now konqueror does not launch any more from kicker on from panel. if i launch it from konsole there is no problem. konqueror seems to be the only programm having that problem. anyone out there knowing
