Howdi,
Okay, first up, 2.4.2 is much much better than 2.4.2, and part of
that for me was shifting back to an nVidia grunty desktop, from
an intel-chipset laptop.
The following are all suffixed with a '... anyone else seeing this,
and/or have any ideas on how to resolve?'.

Since i have upgraded my xserver to 1:7.4+3 my desktop effects do not work
anymore. I still can use XRender but not OpenGL mode.
Popup message:
Failed to activate desktop effects using the given configuration options.
Settings will be reverted to their previous values.
Check your X config

I had the issue about a week ago but it was Mesa I think that caused
it on an intel Q35 video chip.
There was an update last week sometime that corrected it mostly.
Sharpen effect doesn't work -but I never noticed what it actually did.
