Still no success, and I should also add that famd is up and running and if I
watch it via top or KDE System-Guard, it switches between 0.0% and
0.3% cpu resource every second or so, so I'd say it's doing it's job, but
Konqueror doesn't seem to take any notice. :-(

automatically refresh in Sid, but it certainly does in Mandrake 10.0, and
