I have KDE fonts set to 8 point. If the DPI is wrong for my monitor
(sometimes it's forced to 75 dpi in kdmrc) this is completely unreadable.
For example, a target 8pts would be about 4pts or 1.4 mm high on screen
instead of the 2.8mm it should be. Who on earth would think that&
4 is going to address this problem by separating the data
holding parts of the PIM applications into a separate server. That way
kopete won't need to start kmail, it will just attach to the server in
exactly the same way kmail/kabc itself will.

properties dialog which has an "Old Message Expiry" tab. There you can set
the length of time before Expiry. I've never tried 0 days, but do use 1 day

nscd acts as a nice root-priviliged buffer
between getpwnam() calls and ldap. With nscd not running normal users are
unable to do lookups ("getent passwd" will confirm), but once nscd is running
everthing seems to be hunky dory.
