Hi again, On further digging, it looks like the ubuntu people have fixed the khelpcenter problem by patching kdelibs directly. The patch is quite small (in KApplication::invokeHelp(), start khelpcenter directly instead of using dcop). I'll file a bug for this against debian's kdelibs shortly.
