Anyone else having problems with this?
It lists about 5 devices, none of which actually control anything. I've
had to resort to using alsamixer.
This wouldn't be such a problem if there was an ALSA mixer for KDE, but I
can't find one :-)

I'm not sure if this one will go away without compiling your own old
version of libxml,
' in kcontrol doesn't have the same problem).
I'll see how i get on...

Do they work? :-)
Or should I continue stick with 'make/make install' for now?

do a daily
cvs update -d in the root. If this compiles with make, do a make
install, if not, try again the following day.
Failing that, start reading the source! Most of the code in kdelibs is
very good. (it starts to deteriorate at the application level though..

All the other applications worked.. it's just the background/desktop :-(

Alternately, just switch to ogg vorbis and continue to enjoy patent-free

Personally I prefer the sound quality (seems to have a bit more treble

Looks like I'm gonna have to UTSL.. :-| Sounds like a locale problem.
I've tried C, en_GB, and en_US but none seemed to make much difference.
I even tried doing rm -rf on my .kde and /etc/kde2 directories, but to no
avail.
