I can't reproduce at all with current sid. All four situations
(mp3/ogg, kfile/konqueror) work well for me.
Very very strange. Could it be that there is a library of some sort
that is supposed to be required but isn't listed in the depends? I have
tried installing all of kdemultimedia

I just switched to the official kde 3.1 debs (stable)
And they seem to work i first purged all of kl's packets.
Only problem so far is that konqueror crashes on exit.
