Yes, I have noticed this too. I experience it in Kate though. I find it anying because I used Kate about 40% of my time at work. And although it happens only a few times I can only solve it by restarting Kate, which I don't like if I have multiple files open. I have no idea when it happens,

I am using KDE-3.1.0 from Ralf's deb's on a updated Woody system. I've been playing with using kwrite as a makeshift IDE now that it's got code-folding, a simple file listing and an embedable konsole. But I have noticed a rather strange bug. As I work with it, the mouse pointer disapears from
