By using "modinfo i810_audio" instead of insmod, ac97_codec module
will be loa
I'm not really sure how to examine the an initrd image, I think you want
my to mount it and look to see what modules are on it. I did notice I
had a directory /initrd but it didn't contain any files.?? abnormal?
I'll search for mounting initrd files.

I blacklisted am53c974, which is a 2.4-only driver anyway.
Now I'm reassign

Hello,
I have just noticed a bug in the kernel install scripts. I have to
manually fix my /boot/menu.lst.
I am using a January install of debian sarge.
I had this in my /boot/menu.lst

http://packages.debian.org/testing/base/kernel-image-2.4.27-2-k7 does
not mention this is a 32bit only kernel, and also that AthlonXP are
supported.
The brief description on http://packages.debian.org/testing/base/
is just
"Linux kernel image for version 2.4.27 on AMD K7"
Could that be revised

Hi,
The problem with ALI IDE detection on sparc seems to be a variation of
the same problem with CMD64x chipset, which was "solved" before by
compiling the corresponding module into the kernel. After some
experimenting I was able to build a kernel-image with _all_ IDE stuff
compiled as modules,
Package: kernel-image-2.6.9-2-686
Version: 2.6.9-5

I have been dumping d-i image on my USB memory stick
$ sudo dd if=boot.img of=/.dev/sdb1
and suddenly I felt an urde to do
# /etc/init.d/hotplug restart
and it happened -- just an hangup.
ps shows two stopped processes:

Ok, the new module version 1.30i in kernels >= 2.6.8 (old in 2.6.7 was
1.30c) actually is not broken, but introduces a new parameter "homepna".
So using that (like "homepna=1"), the card works like a charm. Anyway,
because the default
