Same problem here.
In fact port 03f2 is in use (sort of)
in floppy.c the kernel tries to allocate some data (4) starting in 03f2,
and the
03f3-03f3 : pnp 00:07
is the culprit.
In the floppy.c just after the failed allocation is a whining about
ADAPTEC.
I use an ADAPTEC AHA-2940U SCSI adapter,

I can still reproduce this bug. The strange thing is: sometimes it
happens very often, sometimes I have no problems for several hours.
I have now disabled gpm, and since then, the workaround without
unplugging the mouse is reduced to Strg + Alt + F1, Alt + F7. So it

I can confirm that joeyh's patch (which is in the BTS) does work for me in an
unstable chroot of today.
So I would be real happy about 2.4.27-12 upload, which would also fix the bugs

Nothing to do with adaptec.
Compiling the kernel without PNP support resolves the problem.
