SATA on AMD64

I have a SATA HD and CD. Etch installer and testing installer netinst seem to be broken for AMD64. CD drive fails to be recognised, despite being in use for the install. Because of this, tried netboot, which got me further. Same problem further on though recognising HD. Is this a known issue? Can y
