Mainly because that is where people seem to be looking for a solution!
Also because the firmware with 0.26 is identical with earlier firmware
that I have downloaded and opinion seems to be that different firmware
is needed for a 64bit kernel. And because the messages I am getting are
similar

By the way, you might want to check your permissions, I'm getting errors
when trying to retrieve rndis_host.ko from your web directory.

anymore, and although I still have my phone with me, the machine I'm
using is a 686 now.
