Referring to issue #815173 which has been marked as fixed.
I am experiencing exact same issue as reported by the OP on Feb 16.
Current kernels installed 4.3.0.1 (no problems) and 4.4.0.1 - the boot dies
very early on, no logs in syslog / dmesg. However, it generated a
bunch of *efivars
dump files*
