It's lots better now. The connection is even more stable than with Madwifi, and WPA2 is functional with my card which was not true with that driver. The tx rate 18 Mbit/s is still quite low for 2,5 m (100 inch) distance and signal/noise (-47/-98 dBm) but it's not bound to 1 Mbit/s as in 2.6.28.
