I am not against a rename some much, but DIS is no better than CDD, really,
so I am rather with Gert and Karsten. Better than DIS may be DUC (pronounced
duck or dak) as an acronym for Debian User Community. I never understood

I think I understand your frustration but be patient. Free software is on the
rise. When people understand free software, they will understand any
language Debian uses.
I like the word Customization and think it conveys the correct meaning.
There's also more than one kind of customization
